[PT] Durante esta tarde a nossa equipa reuniu-se, na aula de Ciências, e o resultado está aqui! Na publicação anterior tínhamos apenas postado o mapa que continha somente texto. Adicionámos agora fotos, que ilustram (esperemos que bem!) o texto também aqui apresentado.

   [PT] Esta semana concluímos a georreferenciação do nosso percurso Google Earth. Realizámos igualmente a tradução de alguns posts deste blog, embora esta ainda esteja a ser finalizada.

 Na próxima quinta feira iremos apresentar o nosso percurso (referente às Margens do Rio Mira em Santa Clara) à comunidade, através deste blog, e a outros convidados numa sessão participativa, que terá lugar na nossa escola.

 Tivemos dificuldades em postar o nosso percurso no blog. Um dos nossos colegas de turma, apesar de não  pertencer à nossa equipa, deu-nos uma ajuda preciosa. Sem ele não teríamos conseguido postar o “rascunho” do nosso percurso georreferenciado neste blog.

 Supomos que as próximas dificuldades que se possam aproximar tenham a ver com a preparação argumentativa do discurso a fazer na sessão de apresentação do percurso georreferenciado.

[ING] This week we completed the journey of our geotagging on Google Earth. We performed also the translation of some posts on this blog, although it is still being finalized.

 The next Thursday we will present our route (referring to Mira's Riverside in Santa Clara) to the community, through this blog, and other guests, at a meeting on our school.

 We had difficulties in posting our journey the on this blog. One of our classmates, despite not belong to our team, gave us invaluable help. Without him we would not have to post the "draft" of our journey georeferenced on this blog.

 We assume that future difficulties that may approach have connecting with the preparation of argumentative discourse to make the presentation session of our georeferenced route.

Projeto inicial

[PT] Esta semana concluímos a georreferenciação do nosso percurso pedestre no Google Earth, referente às Margens do rio Mira em Santa Clara. O único problema com que nos estamos a confrontar é na publicação do percurso georreferenciado (já concluído). Por isso mesmo, as únicas alterações que temos a referir face ao projeto inicial serão que, na fase em que nos encontramos, só nos resta partilhar o nosso percurso pedestre no Google Earth com a comunidade, através deste blog, e apresentá-lo na próxima quinta feira, numa sessão participativa que terá lugar na nossa escola.

[English] This week we completed the georeferencing of our pedestrian route in Google Earth, referring to the Mira's Riverside in Santa Clara. The only problem we're confronting is with the publication of our georeferenced route (already completed). Therefore, the only changes we have the refer over to the initial project is that, at the stage we've already are, we can only share our pedestrian route in Google Earth with the community, through this blog, and in a session that will take place in our school, next Thursday.

 [PT]E aqui está o tão aguardado percurso georreferenciado! Ainda não está completo...mas temos uma semana para fazê-lo. Embora não seja muito tempo, se conseguirmos cooperar uns com os outros, mesmo que não seja com elementos da equipa, tudo se tornará mais simples...

[English] And here is the much awaited georeferenced path! It isn't complete ... but we have an week to do it. Although it is not much time, if we manage cooperate with each other, even it is not with members of the team, everything will become simpler ...

Outra semana passada...

[PT]Esta semana aperfeiçoámos o percurso inicial. Anteriormente tínhamos apenas algumas fotos, mas agora já adicionámos texto. 

 Para a semana iremos efetuar os últimos retoques no nosso percurso, referente aos troços do Rio Mira em Santa Clara, e no dia 29 iremos apresentar o resultado final a alguns convidados, que irão assistir a uma sessão participativa, que se realizará na nossa escola.

 Tivemos algumas dificuldades em guardar o nosso percurso no Google Earth, mas, com a ajuda da professora, conseguimos superar mais esta meta!

 Talvez as dificuldades que se possam aproximar sejam na reunião da equipa e na conclusão da tradução deste blog para Inglês.

[English] This week we perfected the initial project. Previously we had just a few pictures, but now we already added text.

 Next week we'll make the last improvements to our route, referring to the Mira's Riverside, in Santa Clara, and on the 29th we will present the final result to some guests who will attend a session in our school.

 We had some difficulties in guarding our route on Google Earth, but with the help of the teacher, we managed to overcome more this target!

 Maybe the difficulties that may be closer are with the team meeting and to complete the translation into English of this blog.

Pequenas mudanças...

 [PT]Temos apenas uma mudança a referir em relação ao projeto inicial: quando realizámos o percurso teste adicionámos-lhe unicamente fotos, mas agora, para além das fotos, colocámos texto, para poder descrever, por exemplo, a fauna e flora que se podem encontrar num determinado local.

 Encontramo-nos agora naquela altura em que apenas podemos dar os toques finais, pequenas mudanças, e, claro, continuar a postar publicações neste blog, para pôr-mos os cibernautas a par do que temos feito, o que iremos fazer, as dificuldades que temos sentido...

Pelos arredores de S. Luís...

 [PT] Na última publicação partilhámos o resultado da segunda saída de campo, na praia do Carvalhal e Azenha do Mar. Agora vamos mostrar-lhe os "frutos" da terceira e última saída de campo, no Vale Bejinha, Troviscais e Casa Branca. Esta área, tal como a da saída anterior, também pertence ao Parque Natural  do Sudoeste Alentejano e  Costa Vicentina.

[ENG] In the last publication we shared the results of the second field trip, the Carvalhal beach and "Azenha do Mar". Now, we are going to show you the "fruits" of the third and final field trip, in the Bejinha Valley, "Troviscais" and White House. This area, like the previous output, also belongs to the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Vicentin Coast.

 Em 1936, o Plano Rodoviário Nacional construiu uma rede de estradas por todo o país. Esta estrada (em S. Luís) era muito frequentada para quem se dirigia a Lisboa.
 Até então, a circulação era feita por via marítima.

 In 1936, the National Road Plan has built a network of roads across the country. This road (in St. Louis) was very popular for those which headed to Lisbon.
 Until then, the movement was made ​​by sea.

 In the next image we can see a place that apparently is quite normal ... but it's not like that: underneath this bridge exist a rare species of bats.

 A flora e fauna aqui existentes são típicas do bosque mediterrânico. Merecem destaque a Azinheira, o Medronheiro, o Amieiro, o Carvalho, o Sobreiro (grande parte já lhe foi retirada a cortiça)... Para além da avifauna audível, conseguimos avistar uma garça real. E sabemos da existência de javalis nesta mesma área.
 Este local é uma espécie de "testemunho do passado". Por isso mesmo, é quase que considerado Museu Arqueológico.
 Aqui, tal como em Sta Clara, existem árvores com líquenes bioindicadores, ou seja, indicam que esta é uma zona não poluída. Também existem Juníperos, o que indica que há muito tempo que não existem incêndios nesta zona. Falando ainda em incêndios, sabemos que aqui o fogo não avança tão rapidamente, devido à diversidade de flora. Não encontramos uma espécie que seja mais predominante que todas as outras neste local, mas sim um conjunto de variadas espécies, em quantidades similares, que não se encontram concentradas.

Na imagem ao lado pode observar-se o pormenor de manta morta existente neste mato. A mata morta forma-se a partir da acumulação de folhas que caem de algumas árvores. Esta manta retém as águas das chuvas. Também se pode ver uma pegada, possivelmente de um javali.

The flora and fauna existing here are typical of Mediterranean forest. Noteworthy to Holm, the Arbutus, the Alder, the oak, the Corktree (it was already largely removed the cork) ... In addition to the avifauna audible, we spot a heron. And we know the existence of wild boars in this same area.
  This site is a sort of "witness of the past." Therefore, it is almost considered Archaeological Museum.

Here, as in Sta Clara, bioindicators are no trees with lichens, ie indicate that this is a not polluted area. There are also juniper, indicating that long time that there are not fire in this area. Speaking also on fire, here we know that the fire does not go as fast, due to the diversity of flora. We could not find a kind that is more prevalent than all other at this location, but a number of different species, in similar quantities, that are not concentrated.

In the next image can be seen the detail of this existing blanket dead bush. The bush dead formed from the accumulation of falling leaves of some trees. This blanket traps the rainwater. You can also see a footprint, possibly a boar.

[PT] Ponto 3---> Antigo armazém de produção de arroz (junto ao Rio Mira)

 Neste local existe um armazém que fechou à cerca de 20 anos, e que até então fazia produção de arroz. Este armazém praticava uma ação que colocava em causa a saúde do rio: o trigo e a cortiça eram escoados para o rio. Esta fábrica pertencia à EPAC - Empresa Pública de Abastecimento de Cereais - mas quando fechou foi entregue ao Estado, que por sua vez passou o seu domínio à ISN, atual ICNF. Fizeram-se obras nesta fábrica, e é hoje em dia utilizada para fazer festas da Aldeia, e também para guardar instrumentos agrícolas.
 Falando mais propriamente do rio Mira, é importante salientar que este rio tem uma característica muito própria: ele "corre" de montante para jusante, mas, passadas algumas horas, a corrente passa a ter o sentido inverso. Isto deve-se à influência exercida pelo mar. Sabemos da existência de lontras, lagostins, ostras, amêijoas, camarões... Este rio é uma importante "maternidade" de peixes e anfíbios.
 Ao observarmos as margens direita e esquerda do rio, apercebemo-nos de uma diferença: na margem esquerda existem arbustos de algum porte, o que não se verifica na margem direita.
 Junto ao Rio a flora existente passa muito pela Tabua, Junco e ainda alguns arbustos, como já referimos.  Nos subúrbios deste cais predomina o montado, o Medronheiro, os Eucaliptos, as Urzes, Estevas...

[ENG] Point 3 ---> Old Warehouse of rice production (next to the Mira River)

 In this place there is a store that closed at about 20 years, and that until then had rice production. This warehouse practiced an action that put into question the health of the river, wheat and cork were disposed into the river. This mill belonged to EPAC - Public Company Supply Cereals - but when it was delivered to the closed state, which in turn passed to your domain ISN, current ICNF. Works were made in this factory, and is now used to make the Village feasts, and also for storing agricultural implements.
 Speaking more specifically the River Mira, it is important to note that this river has a very unique feature: it "runs" from upstream to downstream, but after a few hours, the chain is replaced by the reverse. This is due to the influence of the sea. We know of the existence of otters, crayfish, oysters, clams, shrimp ... This river is an important "motherhood" of fish and amphibians.
 By observing the left and right banks of the river, we see a difference: on the left there are bushes of some size, which does not appear in the right margin.
 Along the River we can see Tabua, Junco and even some shrubs, as we've already noted. In the suburbs of this pier predominates thw Mounted, Arbutus, Eucalyptus, Heathers, Estevas ...

 Este Sapal foi abandonado à cerca de 20 anos, altura em que o armazém fechou, e era aqui que se produzia o arroz, que tinha como base um recurso de água ali existente.

 Neste ponto avistámos uma herdade, unidade de produção da Vilé Romana. Antigamente viviam aqui trabalhadores, que viviam da produção autónoma. O edifício central era uma Capela, onde se praticava, por exemplo, a "Bênção do Galo".
 Toda esta extensa planície é típica do Alentejo, onde se destacam os Sobreiros.

 Nesta última saída de campo visitámos o Moinho da Laje, onde pudemos desfrutar de uma paisagem deslumbrante. Infelizmente, não chegamos em boas horas, pelo que não pudemos ver o interior do Moinho.

Praia do Carvalhal & Azenha do Mar

[PT] Como já referimos em publicações anteriores, realizaram-se na semana passada as duas últimas saídas de campo: uma na praia do Carvalhal e outra na zona de S. Luís, ambas localizadas em áreas pertencentes ao Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina. 

 Relativamente à segunda saída de campo - praia do Carvalhal e Azenha do Mar - é importante salientar que esta zona, graças ao seu impecável estado de conservação, pertence ao Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina. É também uma zona de interface entre o mar e a terra, logo vai apresentar fauna e flora diferentes da 1ª saída, em que todo o ecossistema era típico de uma zona ribeirinha.

 Na praia do Carvalhal, as cegonhas (Cicónia Cicónia) nidificam nas falésias, ou em rochas isoladas do mar, o que é um caso raro no Mundo.

 Diz-se que há cerca de 65 milhões de anos atrás (época de extinção dos dinossauros) as enseadas eram o esconderijo de tesouros que alguns piratas escondiam. Como esta zona não era povoada, os piratas até tinham motivos para considerarem este um local ideal para esconderijo. Neste mesmo local, podemos observar estratos sedimentares horizontais inclinados.

 A nível marinho, esta zona é rica em fauna do Norte de África, do Mediterrâneo e do Oceano Atlântico. Aqui existem baleias, tartarugas marinhas e cágados.

 Na Azenha do Mar pudemos assistir à chegada de barcos de pesca, e por sua vez os resultados dessa mesma pescaria. Entre muitos outros, destacam-se as Fanecas, Raias, Espargos, Cavalas, Abróteas, Robalos, Safios, Peixe-Agulha...

 A parte que está destacada na imagem ao lado é o resultado da brusca evaporação dos sais minerais, que formaram esta rocha calcária, situada bem no topo desta arriba. Em tempos, extraíam-se porções desta rocha para a produção de rodas de moinhos.

[ING] As mentioned in previous publications, were held last week the last two field trips: one in Carvalhal beach and another in the area of S. Louis, both located in areas belonging to the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.


For the second field trip - Carvalhal beach and Azenha Sea - is important to note that this area, thanks to its flawless condition, belongs to the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina. It is also an area of ​​interface between sea and land, will soon present fauna and flora of different 1st exit, where the entire ecosystem was typical of a waterfront.
  In Carvalhal beach, storks (Ciconia ciconia) nest on cliffs, rocks or isolated from the sea, which is a rare case in the world.
 It is said that there are about 65 million years ago (the time of extinction of the dinosaurs) inlets were the hideout of pirates hid some treasures. As this area was not populated until the pirates had reason to consider this an ideal place to hide. In this same area, we can see horizontal sedimentary strata inclined.
  The sea level, this area is rich in fauna of North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean. Here there are whales, turtles and tortoises.
  In Azenha Sea could watch the arrival of fishing boats, and in turn the results of that fishery. Among many others, there are the pout, Rays, Asparagus, Mackerel Forkbeards, Bass, challenges, Needle Fish ...

The part that is highlighted in the picture is the result of the sudden evaporation of minerals, which formed this limestone that sits on top of this cliff. At times, this portion is extracted for the production of rock wheels mills.

 [PT] No caminho de regresso a casa/escola, pudemos observar a presença humana, através da agricultura intensiva. Nas muitas estufas que vimos, controlam-se os fatores abióticos (humidade, temperatura...) artificialmente, o que não é positivo.

Uma semana, duas saídas

[PT] Esta semana realizaram-se as duas últimas saídas de campo, ambas em áreas pertencentes ao Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina: uma no Carvalhal e outra nos arredores de S. Luís. Nestas saídas, tivemos a oportunidade de ajudar a Prof.ª Patrícia a encontrar caches. O Geocaching é uma "caça ao tesouro" dos tempos modernos. A ideia base do jogo é encontrar recipientes escondidos, denominados “geocaches”, usando um Smartphone ou um GPS e depois partilhar a experiência da sua aventura online.  Ambas as saídas correram bem, talvez até melhor do que a primeira: todos estiveram menos barulhentos, houve uma maior distribuição de tarefas e o tempo também ajudou....no dia que fomos a S. Luís (8 de novembro) esteve um sol radioso durante toda a manhã! Nestas saídas pudemos contar com a presença do Dr. José Paulo Fonseca, que nos ajudou a recolher as informações mais importantes nos pontos que considerássemos de interesse.

 Já distribuímos os três percursos pelas três equipas, e coube-nos a georreferenciação dos troços do rio Mira em Sta Clara, que será a tarefa principal da próxima semana.

 Mais uma vez, tivemos dificuldades em reunir toda a equipa, o que só foi superado recorrendo à distribuição das tarefas por todos.

 Prevemos vir a ter dificuldades no manuseamento do Google Earth, e também na tradução deste blog para Inglês.

[English] This week were held the last two the field outputs, both of in areas belonging to the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina: Carvalhal and another one on nearby of S. Luis
In these outlets, we had the opportunity to help Prof. ª Patricia find the caches. Geocaching is a "treasure hunt" of modern times. The basic idea of the game is to find hidden containers, called "geocaches" using a Smartphone or a GPS and then share the experience of their online adventure. Both outputs go well, perhaps even better than the first: all were less noisy, there was a greater distribution of tasks and time also helped ...on the day we went to S.Luis (November 8) was a radiant sun all morning! These outputs we have the presence of Dr. Jose Paulo Fonseca, who helped us collect the most important information that we regard the points of interest.

Already distribute the three pathways by three teams, and fit us georeferencing sections of the Mira River in Sta Clara, which will be the main task of next week.

Once again, we had difficulties in bringing together the entire teamwhat was only surpassed by resorting to distribution of tasks by all.

We anticipate come to have difficulties in handling Google Earth, and also this blog in the translation to English.

Mais umas alterações!

[PT] Os percursos pedestres já estão distribuídos! Estamos encarregues pela georreferenciação do 1º percurso (margens do rio Mira em Santa Clara). Para nossa felicidade, mais nenhum grupo queria georreferenciar o nosso percurso...mas o que é bom para uns é mau para outros! Como os restantes dois grupos queriam o mesmo percurso, tivemos de recorrer a um sorteio, que também para nossa felicidade só englobou esses mesmos grupos! Sabidos os resultados do sorteio, como é lógico, um dos grupos não ficou satisfeito...ou melhor, alguns membros do grupo.

 Falando mais propriamente do projeto iTEC, temos a dizer que as nossas expetativas têm alterado um pouco desde o início. No começo desta aventura, estávamos à espera de um projeto que, para alguns, chegaria a ser bastante "secante". Contudo, com a dinâmica existente neste projeto, em que, por exemplo, há necessidade de observação direta, as ideias foram alterando: o projeto é agora visto, pela maior parte das pessoas, mais apelativo e interessante. É importante referir que temos aprendido bastante sobre a fauna e flora da nossa região (e muitas outras coisas!), e às vezes chegamos a sentirmo-nos como que "meninos da cidade", por nunca nos termos interessado mais sobre a infinita biodiversidade existente na nossa zona.

Speaking more properly of the project iTEC,we have to say that our expectations have hereby amended a little since the beginning.At the beginning of this adventure, we were waiting for a project which, for some, would come to be fairly "secant".However, with the dynamics existing in this project, in whichfor example, no need for direct observation, the ideas were by changing: the project is now seen by the most people, more attractive and interesting.It is important to refer that we have learned great deal about the flora and fauna of our region (and many more things!), And sometimes we come to feel that we are like "city boys" for never pursuant more interested about the infinite biodiversity existing in our zone.

Mais uma semana de trabalho!

 [PT] Já georreferenciámos o nosso 1º percurso pedestre! Para tal, utilizámos o Google Earth, e, embora não fosse necessário, o Picasa. Se quiser ver o nosso resultado final, basta transferir o Google Earth e, no campo 'procurar' escreva "Santa Clara, Odemira". Aparecerá algo semelhante ao que pode ver na imagem abaixo:

 [English] We've already geotagged our 1st footpath! To do this, we used Google Earth, and, though not necessary, Picasa. If you want to see our final result, just download Google Earth and, in the 'search' space type "Santa Clara, Odemira". You'll see something similar to what you can see in the image below:

Pois bem, as imagens que têm como título "Ponte D. Maria" e "Margens do Rio Mira em Sta Clara" foram colocadas por nós! Estamos muito contentes por termos superado esta grande meta!

 Nos dias 7 e 8 de novembro voltaremos ao campo, desta vez ao Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina. Já falta pouco!

 Esta semana sempre conseguimos reunir-nos, de modo que discutimos as ideias que cada um tem face ao projeto inicial, distribuímos mais as tarefas e partilhámos entre nós informações sobre a saída de campo (fotografias, captações áudio...). Contrapondo esta "vitória", temos um problema: o TeamUp não está a funcionar, de modo que não temos possibilidade de fazer as gravações áudio.

 Para a próxima semana antevemos os mesmos desafios de sempre (que acabámos por superar esta semana!). Ou seja, as dificuldades que prevemos têm haver com a reunião da equipa. E esperemos que até lá o TeamUp lembre-se de funcionar!

[English] Well, the images that are titled "Mary's bridge" and "Mira Riverside in Sta Clara" were placed by us! We are very pleased to have overcome this great goal!

 On 7th and 8th November we'll return to the field, this time to the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Vincentine Coast. Already lack little!

 This week we met ourselves, so we discussed the ideas that everyone has face to the initial project, distributed more the tasks and shared information among us about the field trip (photos, audio recordings...). Opposing this "victory", we have a problem: the TeamUp isn't working, so we have no possibility to make the audio recordings.

 For the next week we anticipate the same challenges ever (that we eventually overcome this week!). That is, we expect that the difficulties have to do with the team meeting. And let us hope that until then TeamUp remembers itself to work!

Refletindo...

 [PT] A nossa 1ª saída de campo decorreu dentro das expetativas esperadas. Recolhemos a informação  mais interessante e coerente ao nosso ponto de vista (através de apontamentos, fotografias, gravações áudio...) e organizámo-la. De um modo geral, a saída correu bem.

 A informação que consideramos mais interessante está referida no post anterior: "...e eis o resultado final (da 1ª saída de campo)!". Lá encontrarão fotos e informações referentes à nossa saída de campo pelas margens do rio Mira em Sta Clara.

 A nosso ver, não há necessidade de alterar o projeto inicial. Como foi dito numa das nossas publicações anteriores, vamos georreferenciar 3 percursos pedestres. O 1º vai servir como uma espécie de teste, para termos a oportunidade de explorar algumas potêncialidades do Google Earth, que será desenvolvido por todos os grupos. Depois desta fase, cada equipa terá 1 percurso pedestre, e terá de o georreferenciar, tendo por base o Google Earth.

[English] Reflecting...

 Our first field trip ocurred according to our expectations. We collected information that we consider more interesting and consistent with our view (through notes, photographs, audio recordings ...) and organized it. Generally, the output went well.

 The information that we consider most interesting is in the previous post: "... and here's the end result (of the 1st field trip)!". There you will find pictures and information regarding our field trip down the Mira river in Sta Clara.

 In our view, there is no need to change the initial project. As stated in one of our previous publications, we'll georeference three footpaths. The 1st will serve as a kind of test, to have the opportunity to explore some potentialities of Google Earth, which will be developed by all groups. After this phase, each team will have 1 pedestrian path, and will have to georeference it, based on Google Earth.
